30 day book challenge - Day 3

Day 3 - Your favorite series

This one was a tough one. I have a few series that I've been reading. But I think Harry Potter is one of those special series.

I wasn't into it when it first came out. My Dad bought me the books because he heard so much about them at work and how the books were so awesome and he thought I would want to be included in the action. So every year for my birthday, I got a new book. I never read them. :/ When the movie came out, I wasn't interested. We watched the movie in band class and we even played part of the music in one of our concerts. Still no interest.

My Mom read the books before I did. She loved then and we started to get all the movies. She convinced me to give the movies a try first. Once I allowed myself to get into the magic of the story, I loved then and devoured the books! I held off on the last book until I saw the movies first; to continue with the motion of watch movie then read the book.

Overall, I'm glad I got into the series. I loved all the characters and the storyline was so intense it pulled you in every book.

30 day book challenge - Day 2

Day 2 - A book that you've read more than 3 times

I know, I know. But it's Dr. Seuss and it's one of my favorites that I read over and over and over as a child. I don't really re-read too many books now-a-days, so this one was a little harder to think of. But going back to when I was Kindergarten, I read this book to a 2nd grade class, and I was reading it upside down as well! I remember this so well because I got a big thank you letter from the class and a certificate from the teacher. :) Sadly, I didn't have her as my 2nd grade teacher, but my years in Elementary school gave me the love for reading I have now.

I will not eat them in a box, I will not eat them with a fox. I will not eat green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I Am.

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

I've been meaning to do these for a while, especially when I made this new blog ... let's see how long I can keep it up :P

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
Coming home after a long day of work to be with my fuzzy ones! I've been pretty boring since I started my new job; but I don't have any vacation days to use until I pass my 6-month probation. :(

2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?
Anything other than work clothes! I'm a tomboy, so my usual wear is a t-shirt with some kind of design and denim shorts!

3. What is one thing you wish you’d gotten to do this summer?
Go on vacation ... even if it was a weekend trip. :/ I think this is the first summer we haven't gone anywhere. But when you're offered a job, you don't say no with this economy!

4. What was your favorite song of the summer?
I'm behind on this year's music; but after hearing this at the MTV VMA's, I fell in love: Katy Perry - Roar

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?
Whodunnit; it's a reality series that just started on ABC this year. A bunch of guests come out to this mansion to solve a case. Turns out there is a killer in the house and the other guests will be killed off until it's just the killer and one winner. It reminded me of the movie Clue, where the guests are crazy and the butler is hilarious with puns and jokes. I really hope they bring it back for a second season!

(warning; clicking the image will take you to the wikipedia site which has the outcome of the season!)

30 day book challenge - Day 1

Day 1 - The best book you read this year

As of right now, I have only read 6 books ... so I didn't have too many to pick from which made this quite easy. I'm a huge fan of the TV show Dexter (on Shotime) and I'm sad that this is the 8th and final season. So I decided to get into the books. They're quite different from the series, but they still have the quirky side of Dexter throughout with his thoughts and actions, which I love!

This is book 4 of the series and it's my favorite. The way the killer displays his victims, how Dexter finds him and how the other characters are involved just makes this book great. (Trying not to get into too many details without giving it away!) Sawed off legs, artistically displayed bodies, Paris & romance ... what could possibly go wrong?

30 day book challenge

Trying out something new to do ... This will give me an excuse to post on a daily basis *fingers crossed*

I always loved to read. Having to read and over analyze books in class put a huge damper on reading just to read. I've been trying to complete a reading challenge on goodreads ... I didn't quite make 30 books last year and at the rate I've been going this year, I may not make 15! I really need to make more time for reading. :(

Review: Kraft Recipe Makers; Hickory BBQ Beef

Made: August 18, 2013

Oh a whim, I bought this while at Target one day. We're not always in the mood for bbq beef, but it's nice to have help while making it. I used the main recipe to follow for just beef (inside there were two other recipes; one for chicken and one for pork)

Review: Julep's Beach Tonic Spray

This spray was the main reason for buying the July Maven box, even though the colors of the polish were pretty.
